JONAH 1 : 1-17 is the Biblical account of Jonah being revealed as the cause of a “mighty tempest,” the type of which even seasoned sailors are afraid, and admitting that he is the cause of the storm. Kipling’s novel recalls the story: “A Jonah’s anything that spoils the luck.”
