Ode to a NightingaleUpon hearing the nightingale’s song, the poet writes: “Perhaps the self-same song that found a path / Through the sad heart of Ruth, when, sick for home, / She stood in tears amid the alien corn.” The story of RUTH can be found in the Old Testament book bearing her name. Her experience in the fields is in RUTH 2:1-23.
