A Still, Small Voice

Lines written a few miles above Tintern Abbey1 KINGS 19:12 records the Lord speaking to Elijah in a “still, small voice.” Wordsworth recalls his passage into manhood: “For I have learned / To look on nature, not as in the hour / Of thoughtless youth; but hearing oftentimes / The still, sad music of humanity.”
