The Law of the Medes and Persians

Both ESTHER 1:19 and DANIEL 6:8 emphasize that the law of the Medes and Persians was famous for not being altered or changed. In chapter 14, Mr. Rochester warns Jane of his plan to assert his authority: “I am laying down good intentions, which I believe durable as flint…and at this moment I pass a law, unalterable as that of the Medes and Persians.”
